With the presence of important guests, including representatives of the municipal and regional authorities, the Rector of the Ionian University, Prof. Andreas Floros, and the President of the University Center for Research and Innovation (UCRI), Prof. Panagiotis Vlamos realized the inauguration of the Institute of Digital of Biomedicine in Zakynthos, on Wednesday 18 October 2023, which marked the beginning of a new era in the field of digital health and biomedicine.
The Institute announced six initial collaborations with recognized scientists and institutions worldwide. These collaborations, which are expected to play a critical role in advancing research and development in the field of digital biomedicine, include the University of Texas McGovern Medical School, (UTHealth Houston), USA, Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada, the TranslaTUM – Center for Translational Cancer Research of the University of Munich, Germany, the JOIST Innovation Park, Greece, the Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Athens of the Greek Academy of Sciences and the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos”.
The partnerships announced prepare the ground for the successful course of the new Institute. Specifically, the first program, in collaboration with the medical school of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, supported by the Unesco Institution for Information Technologies in Education, concerns the very important topic “Children, teenagers and the internet: Possibilities and challenges of the online world.
